African Parks Conservation Training Program, Africa

African Parks (AP) is a non-profit organization that manages protected areas throughout Africa via direct government mandates. One of the ongoing challenges to managing protected areas is providing adequate training for park staff, particularly when it comes to wildlife management and anti-poaching enforcement. The year-long curriculum, delivered to six chosen students, centered on anti-poaching, particularly of elephants. The Training Program has a direct impact on efforts to rebuild, maintain, and grow elephant populations in parks through effective conservation management and poaching prevention.
