Community Based Conflict Management between Human and Wild Elephant, India

Community Based Conflict Mitigation (CCM) methods are an important first line of defense for the long-term mitigation of human-elephant conflict. This project is developing a low cost, effective, and locally adaptable detection & deterrence technique for CCM systems, building capacity of local communities for dealing with wild elephants through a series of training programs ensuring the proper application and monitoring of the deterrence techniques in the field, and conducting a series of advocacy programs to develop linkages between the vulnerable communities, governmental agencies and non-governmental organizations.
