Reducing Threats and Mitigating Human-Elephant Conflict in Core Habitat, Cambodia

Habitat loss and degradation threatens Asian elephant populations in Cambodia as natural habitat is developed both inside and adjacent to protected areas. This project secures the landscape and habitat in the southern Cardamoms Mountains Landscape and ensures conservation efforts of this core population of elephants is strategic, effective and adaptive. Additionally, this project supports communities in mitigating human-elephant conflict, the Cambodian Ministry of Environment in zoning and demarcating the protected areas critical for elephant conservation and assists the government and communities in mitigating human-elephant conflict which will all result in the strengthened ability to conserve the Asian elephant and its habitat in a strategic and coordinated manner.
