Alongside Communities! Shaping Coexistence through Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation

Zimbabwe’s Binga district in the Sebungwe region is home to approximately 3500 elephants. Zimbabwe as a whole has seen a nearly 300 percent increase in human wildlife conflict (livestock predation, crop raids, human injuries and death) since 2016. This project will implement the SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) conservation model for the Binga district including an early warning system, conflict mitigation workshops, and establishment of a Community Guardians program.
