Elephant Response Teams for Human-Elephant Conflict Mitigation, Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s Sheikh Jamal Inani National Park has a “Greening Environment through Livelihood Improvement & Forest Enrichment” program which has mobilized Elephant Response Teams (ERTs) to help support peaceful coexistence between communities and elephants. This project provides field training to the ERTs and supports equipment to help respond to conflict incidents. Additionally, community awareness programs including teaching cultivation of crops non-palatable to elephants are being conducted to strengthen the overall community approach to conservation.
