A New Model for Integrating Conservation into Business: 1% for the Planet
We are pleased to announce the International Elephant Foundation has joined 1% for the Planet as an impact partner! This partnership is intended to advance our impact as well as involve more businesses in the environmental movement.
IEF’s reputation for effective and sustainable conservation work is stellar, and this program will help more businesses learn about us. 1% for the Planet is an accountability partner for businesses that are ready to reject business as usual and give back to impact partners making a difference around the globe. Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, their members have given hundreds of millions of dollars to environmental partners to date.
While IEF currently supports 21 projects in 15 countries, our impact is adding to the footprint of 1% for the Planet! Since their founding they have touched 110+ countries, and connected a network of over 11,689 businesses and impact partners. This is a global movement to help channel real change where it needs to be.
“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet.
If you or someone you know has a business that participates in 1% for the Planet, please encourage them to check out IEF. Learn more by viewing the International Elephant Foundation’s profile here!
