After lunch and a rest, Sam, a guide with more than twenty years’ experience working at Chongwe River Camp, took us on a game drive into LZNP. He told us that early evening is especially good for finding lions resting together before starting off on their nocturnal hunting forays. It just so happened that one of the Park’s lion prides had recently come into the area. We were full of excitement as we started off in the Land Cruiser to the spot where the lions had last been sighted.
