New cost-effective methods to alleviate human-elephant conflict were needed to build relationships between wildlife authorities and community members and help farmers and elephants live in harmony.This project trialed experimental fences that use flashing lights to deter elephants from maize crops and investigated options for new cash-crops that elephants find unpalatable.
