Cryopreservation of African Elephant Semen

Artificial insemination in elephants is a viable technique that with cryopreservation of semen will enable the technology to be utilized worldwide. This project developed semen freezing protocols for artificial insemination allowing elephant managers to improve genetics of the captive elephant or isolated wild populations in the future using semen from males thousands of miles from the recipient female.
