Our next Conservation Chat features Dr. Tabitha Hoornweg!

We will discuss her work addressing Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus (EEHV).

Dr. Tabitha Hoornweg works as a researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Originally trained as a medical biologist and science communication specialist, she obtained her PhD in Experimental Virology from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. In 2019, she moved to Utrecht University to study elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV) infections in elephants. Her research focuses on understanding the immune response against EEHV, with the eventual aim develop a vaccine and/or treatment.
