Greetings,
Elephant moms (like all moms) are pretty special. Besides carrying their baby for nearly two years (a 22 month gestation!), elephant moms play many roles.
Teacher:
Moms teach the calves what plants and food are safe to eat. They even have to teach their calves how to use their trunks!
Leader:
Moms lead the herd along migration routes where water and food can be found.
Protector:
Whether it is their calf or not, elephant moms protect their young. Fierce Moms, Aunties, and Grandmas all help protect the herd.
Your mom is a teacher, leader and protector like an ‘Elephant Mom’. Forward her this email to give her a JUMBO HUG this Mother’s Day! Join us in celebrating great moms everywhere!
