On World Elephant Day (August 12th) two caring and enterprising sisters in California decided they needed to help elephants. 11-year-old Bella and 8-year-old Camille wanted to inspire people to care about elephants and protect them for future generations. Through their research, Camille and Bella found that Asian elephants are an endangered species. This motivated them to hand-make signs to post at their local parks, but they wanted to do more. Together they designed and made bracelets and mask keepers to sell to friends and family, raising $160 in just two days! Everyone who ordered Bella and Camille’s tailor-made accessories also received hand-written receipts and thank you cards.
Their mother, Terra, is extremely proud of her daughters and their efforts. She tells us that “they are already thinking of new ways they can make money to help elephants” and that “one day they dream of going to see an elephant in person.”
IEF is honored to have two new independent, dedicated, and caring members of the team working for and thinking about ways to help elephants. Their passion inspires us and reminds us that you are never too young, too old, or just right to make a difference.
It’s not too late to join the girls and act for elephants! Donate today or start your own fundraiser!
