The International Elephant Foundation invites you to a free, hour-long virtual workshop on the practicalities of elephant collaring for research and management.

Collaring decisions made in the field, from hardware selection to deployment protocols to data management, shape what we can learn and how effectively we can act on conflict, movement, and population questions. This session brings together two practitioners with deep operational experience to share what works, what doesn’t, and the trade-offs that rarely make it into published methods sections.

Speakers:

  • Hadrien Haupt, Africa Wildlife Tracking (South Africa)
  • Aung Chan, Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (USA)

Date: Wednesday, June 11
Time: 9:00 AM EDT
Format: Online via Zoom (registration required)
Duration: 60 minutes, including audience Q&A

Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/h5eDfw04Svq3DtS0VnTSrQ

This workshop is designed with on-the-ground conservation practitioners in mind, including those scoping new collaring programs, troubleshooting existing ones, or weighing collaring against alternative monitoring approaches in African and Asian elephant range. We encourage you to bring your questions for the Q&A.

Please forward to colleagues and field teams who would benefit.

With thanks,
The International Elephant Foundation
