Conservation Chat with Dr. Paul Ling

Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus (EEHV) affects all species of elephants, in human care and in the wild, but heartbreakingly targets the young. EEHV is the leading cause of death for juvenile elephants in North America. It naturally coevolved with elephants over millions of years but is a serious threat to their survival.

We are lucky to have Dr. Paul Ling and his team at Baylor College of Medicine working on developing a vaccine to fight EEHV as well as the tools needed to aid in that development. Dr. Ling is the guest for this week’s featured Conservation Chat. He is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Virology, a member of the EEHV Advisory Group Steering committee, and serves as an IEF Advisor.
IEF is proud to support Dr. Ling’s work and proud to share this incredible Conservation Chat with you!
