As we embrace August as Make-A-Will Month, I want to take a moment to talk about something close to my heart: the power of leaving a legacy.

Elephants face increasing threats from habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict but a simple action today—remembering IEF in your will—can help build a world where elephants not only survive but thrive!

Recently I worked with donors who were laser-focused on advancing elephant protection, not just for a year but far into the future leaving this world better than they found it. Through our shared journey, the donors came to see that supporting IEF meant that their legacy would be a lifeline for elephants.

By including IEF in your will or estate plans, you can ensure that your values live on, supporting the conservation efforts that matter most to you. Your bequest or planned gift will support critical conservation efforts—from protecting wild herds and funding anti-poaching patrols to advancing groundbreaking research and empowering communities to peacefully coexist with elephants. Legacy gifts like yours fuel the long-term solutions elephants need to thrive.

Together, we can create a legacy that reflects our shared commitment to elephants where your compassion endures. Thank you for being a part of the IEF community—your support is what drives our mission forward now and for years to come!

Note: Many of our supporters give stock, grant from Donor Advised Funds, or make a Qualified Charitable Distribution, all of which are more “tax-smart” than giving cash. If you’d like to explore these options, you can find more information here.

Warm regards,

Sarah Conley

Director of Conservation
